Smoky Quartz can vary in color from deep brown/black to a light pale brown.  Smoky Quartz is found all over the world.  Smoky Quartz is thought to be a protective and grounding crystal.  Smoky Quartz is believed to transmute negative energies, aid in practicality, and organization.  It is also thought to assist in manifestation of inspirations and dreams. Smoky quartz is sensitive to light and will fade over time if put in direct sunlight.
